Corbell
Publishing Company is a leading Entertainment publishing company
specializing in the DVD (Digital Video Disc) software and
hardware industry.
Corbell Publishing was founded in 1988 by Maureen A. Healy.
Maureen Healy has been in the publishing business for many
years, both in the United States and in the United Kingdom,
where she started her career at The Economist Intelligence
Unit (a subsidiary of the respected Economist Magazine) in
London. She also worked for The Institute for International
Research in London, which at that time, had 26 newsletters
in various industries including International Taxation and
Accountancy.
In 1979 she moved to the United States and worked for one
of the first video software publications Video Marketing Newsletter;
she was Vice President of Marketing and grew the company three-fold
before it was sold in 1987 to Phillips Publishing.
Corbell introduced its first product to the video market in
1988 with PRC NEWS (Prerecorded Videocassettes) newsletter.
PRC NEWS has been merged into DVD NEWS.
In 1989 Corbell launched its first statistical report The
Video Statistical Report; an annual report with data, charts
and information on the software (VHS), duplication and hardware
(VCRs etc.) business. The Video Statistical Report has been
merged into the DVD Statistical Report.
The Video Duplication Directory, Corbell's first directory
was launched in 1991 - an annual publication. The Video Duplication
Directory has been merged into the DVD Replication Directory.
In 1995 Corbell signed a long-term agreement with LEXIS-NEXIS
(1-800-543-6862) to go online with its publications, and in
1996 Corbell launched its Website.
In March of 1997 WARNER HOME VIDEO was the first Hollywood
Studio to offer DVD movies to the U.S. marketplace and Corbell
launched DVD NEWS
the same month. DVD NEWS was a monthly newsletter; become
a biweekly in 1998 and in 1999 become a weekly newsletter.
In 2005, Corbell started to offer advertising in DVD NEWS
in its electronic edition.
In 1998 Corbell launched the first edition of the DVD
Statistical Report; an annual report consisting of DVD
software, charts and hardware data.
In 1999 Corbell started offering e-mail service to its subscribers
for the first time for DVD NEWS.
In 2001 the annual DVD
Replication Directory was published for the first time.
